Riverview Parkway park development, Griffin

Council is developing a new park at Riverview Parkway to help meet the need for more recreation spaces for our growing communities. The project includes the construction of a new park with:

  • play equipment to suit toddlers to school-age children, the playground includes some all-abilities features
  • shade sails
  • picnic shelter and furniture
  • landscaping including hardscapes and softscapes
  • access paths catering for all-abilities access.

The design and construction of this project will begin in the 2024/25 financial year. Council has committed $600,000 for this project.

Status update

The contract is soon to be awarded to design and construct the new park and playground. The contractor will start work in February 2025, weather permitting.

Community consultation

Between 8 May and 5 June 2023, we asked for your feedback on a draft concept design. We received 64 survey responses during the four-week consultation period. You also told us that you wanted to see:

  • improvements to the play equipment to make them more toddler friendly
  • traditional swing set or a secondary swing for toddlers and babies
  • improved mosquito management to make the park user-friendly
  • increased wheelchair accessibility.
