Rob Akers Reserve offers recreational opportunities for visitors and Moreton Bay residents. This includes play areas, fitness spaces, and an off-leash dog park.
As one of Australia's fastest-growing cities, we must plan for parks that can accommodate growth and meet demand.
The master plan for Rob Akers Reserve focuses on upgrading existing infrastructure. It will also preserve and enhance current uses to support the community of users.
About the master plan
The final plan considered community feedback and the outcomes of many technical reports and studies. This provided greater clarity about site constraints and achievable project deliverables.
The final master plan includes:
- reinstatement of AFL field 2 to make it a full-size playing surface with appropriate lighting
- upgraded dog training area to support day and night activity
- new dedicated junior and youth areas for play and recreation
- new informal spaces for leisure including shelters with seating and barbecue areas
- improved pedestrian path network connecting the reserve
- areas for habitat revegetation, including koala habitat and food trees.

Community feedback
We invited community feedback on the draft master plan from 3 February to 4 March 2020.
During consultation, we received 18 survey responses with one written objection. The preliminary master plan was generally supported by the wider community.
Next steps
The master plan will guide site development into the future. Individual projects will deliver improvements over time. Each project will be subject to annual budget deliberations and prioritisation.
