Gympie Road streetscaping, Strathpine

Council is enhancing the pedestrian experience along Gympie Road in Strathpine.  The works will occur between Buckby Street and Mecklem Street. These upgrades will provide a safer, more accessible pathway. This aligns with the Disability Discrimination Act, benefiting the local community and visitors.

The project will also create a more sustainable streetscape through water-sensitive urban design. This supports the long-term health of the iconic Hoop Pines, preserving them as a key feature of the area.

Further project works include:

  • replacing the footpath with a new wider footpath
  • localised boardwalk installation over raised tree roots
  • upgrades to pedestrian crossings
  • installation of tree cells
  • streamlining and replacement of street furniture such as bench seats
  • installation of way-finding signage.

During construction, you can expect to see:

  • temporary footpaths providing alternative access to businesses
  • temporary way-finding signage
  • construction site fencing and mesh
  • construction machinery on site which may be noisy.

We understand this work may cause some inconvenience. We appreciate your cooperation and patience.
