The city has recently completed the Henry Road and Dohles Rocks Road reconstruction project. This project included road widening, traffic signal installation, and increasing road height.
We will now start construction on a 2.5-metre-wide shared-use footpath for cyclists, scooters, and pedestrians. Construction works will include:
- an upgraded pedestrian crossing for Griffin Sports Complex
- pedestrian lighting
- fauna fencing
- drainage to support the new infrastructure.
We have committed $3.5 million towards the pathway construction.
Development approval conditions prevented the delivery of the footpath during the initial reconstruction.
We expect construction to start in early 2025, after receiving state approvals.
Status update
The detailed design of the footpath is complete. We are awaiting development approvals from the Queensland Government.
We have obtained quotes for service relocation works at the main entry to the Griffin Sports Complex. We expect these works to be completed by Christmas 2024.
