The intersection of Sylvan Beach Esplanade / Marine Parade / Bibimulya Street, Bellara has been identified for road safety improvements due to a history of road crashes.
The crashes occurred where vehicles travelling east in Marine Parade failed to give way to vehicles travelling south on Sylvan Beach Esplanade. The following scope of works (as per attached plan) is expected to address the identified crash trend and improve the intersection:
- Installation of a single lane roundabout
- New road pavement
- Raised splitter islands
- Sections of new footpath and kerb ramps
- Bicycle lanes
- Landscaping
Council has secured funding under the Federal Government Black Spot program and the proposed work is planned to be completed between July-August 2020, subject to weather and other externalities. Properties adjacent of the work site will be provided further notification closer to the time of construction.
