New telecommunication facilities

Telecommunication companies can apply to lease Council-controlled or owned land to install a new telecommunications facility.

Before you apply, you will need Council’s consent to use Council-controlled or owned land for the new facility. Learn more about getting Council consent.

Application for assignment of an existing telecommunication lease

Telecommunications companies will need Council’s consent to assign a lease within Council-controlled or owned land to another telecommunication company.

To apply, submit a 'Lease - Telecommunications' application through Council’s Online Services. If you do not have an account, you will need to register.

How to apply

Step 1.Collect the supporting documents

You will need to provide:

  • a copy of the lease dealing document
  • an ASIC search for the assignee.

Step 2.Complete an online application

  • Sign in to Council's Online Services (Instructions).
  • Go to ‘Enquiries’.
  • Search for ‘Corporate - Tenure Agreements’ and click ‘Start’ to begin the process.
  • Select the activity - 'Lease - Telecommunications'.
  • Select 'Assignment'.
  • Complete the questions.
  • Read and accept Council’s terms and conditions.
  • Payment by MasterCard or Visa is required at the time of lodgement, per Council's fees and charges

Step 3.Obtain public liability insurance

You must provide evidence of a current public liability insurance policy valued at $20,000,000. The policy must be in the same name as the applicant. Any other party or provider associated with your application will also need to provide evidence of public liability cover.

Allow four to six weeks for your application to be processed.
