Melsa Park

Calling all train enthusiasts! Bribie Island’s Melsa Park in Bongaree offers a unique and nostalgic experience for visitors of all ages.

Established 30 years ago by the Model Engineers and Live Steamers Association, the train park features miniature steam trains running on a 500-metre track. Train rides are available on the third Sunday of every month from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM, costing $2.00 a ride. The train takes passengers on a scenic journey around the park and surrounding bushland.

Stay a while and enjoy a relaxing picnic. There’s plenty of shade and tables. Before you go, check out the historic carriage and add an extra touch of nostalgia to your visit.

To further enrich your historical experience, a visit to the decommissioned Leopard AS1 Tank next to the Bribie Island RSL is a must! This impressive war machine is 7 metres long and weighs 42 tonnes. Used by the Australian Defence Force from 1977, it was one of 30 tanks offered to RSLs by the Federal Government in 2010.

You can also visit the nearby Bribie Island Seaside Museum. History buffs will enjoy learning about the island’s role during World War II.

If the kids are still brimming with energy, why not extend your day with a visit to Brennan Park. Here you'll find play equipment suitable for all ages.

Come and enjoy a delightful day at Melsa Park, where history, fun, and nature come together to create a memorable experience for all visitors.
