Apply for a waste disposal authority

Council provides eligible residents and ratepayers, Council-approved events, community groups and charitable organisations with waste disposal at no cost within approved annual limits per property, per financial year.

Council’s Disposal of waste free of charge policy(PDF, 296KB) provides conditional disposal without charge for limited quantities of general waste, green waste, clean concrete, clean soil and recyclables to the following applicants upon approval of a waste disposal authority:

  • friends, relatives, or volunteers, disposing of waste on behalf of an eligible resident, where the service is not provided for a fee or reward
  • owners of vacant land in the City of Moreton Bay
  • Council-approved community groups and sporting organisations
  • charitable organisations
  • senior residential complexes with Council waste services, where the waste is disposed of by the residents
  • schools and other education facilities within City of Moreton Bay
  • special circumstances such as Council-supported events, hardships, projects that benefit the whole community, sporting carnivals/fetes and bushland and waterway restoration and improvement activities.

Waste disposal authorities are not available for disposing of commercial/business waste, regulated hazardous waste or where the waste is collected and transported on behalf of a resident for fee or reward, even if the resident is accompanying the commercial operator to the facility.

A domestic vehicle must be used for waste disposal with an authority and it must weigh less than 4.5 tonnes CGVM upon entrance to site. Find out more about accepted domestic vehicles on the Free domestic waste disposal for residents webpage.

Review the Disposal of waste free of charge policy(PDF, 296KB) to check eligibility before completing the application for waste disposal authority(PDF, 232KB).

Processing of applications can take up to ten business days during peak periods.

Upon approval, you will be notified of your disposal limits and this information will be stored against your vehicle registration and property for reference by staff at Council’s waste management facilities. All information will be stored electronically.
