The Digital Studio
The Digital Studio is a mixed purpose space available for hire for free! You can use the space for podcasting, content creation, vinyl and paper cutting with our Cricut machine, and exploring robots.
To hire the space, you must be a library member who is 18 years and older. If you're not a member, head into one of our libraries or join online.
If you are younger than 18 and would like to use the studio, you must:
- have someone older than 18 make the booking on your behalf
- be supervised by someone over 18 for the duration of your session.
Using the space is also dependent on your reading and agreeing to the terms of use(PDF, 719KB).
When you book, you can request an induction walkthrough. The walkthrough will happen when you arrive. It will include an explanation of our terms of use and a short demonstration on the safe use of the equipment.
Library staff do not offer technical support, but introductory videos are available.

Equipment in The Digital Studio
With four podcasting microphones, professional quality RODECaster Pro, iMac computer and software, you can produce high quality podcasts and sound recordings. Add visuals using the green screen and mobile-compatible ring light, and your own video recording equipment.
Bring a sound card to keep your recording or use one of ours and then transfer to a USB or cloud-based platform.

To use the sound recording equipment, you will need a basic understanding of music production and studio operation.

Vinyl and paper cutting
Get professional-looking results with vinyl and paper cutting using our Cricut machine. To design an object, use the Design Space app and cut it out on the machine.
The Digital Studio has a Cricut Maker 3, cutting mats for fabric, vinyl, and paper/cardstock, and tools for weeding your design.
New Cricut users

When making the booking, you can request a starter pack to practice on, containing a small quantity of paper and vinyl.
Experienced Cricut users
Bring your vinyl and paper to design the project of your dreams!
- Card/paper: select your cardboard or paper, it should have a thickness of 210GSM. Textured card will also help the cardboard attach to the cutting mat.
- Vinyl: permanent and iron-on vinyl is sold in a variety of colours and sizes. Cricut brand vinyl is sold at many shops, however other brands are compatible with the Cricut machine. Vinyl should be chosen depending on the project being created.
Tech Trolley
Spark your imagination with our Tech Trolley of robots. Bring the kids to practice coding or find out for yourself what they're excited about! The Digital Studio has:
- Intelino Smart Train
- Sphero Bolt app-enabled robot ball
- Botzee
- obstacle courses for the robots to navigate
- an iPad with apps installed by watching the robots.
