Discover the art of sound recording and podcasting at our sound studios, located at Redcliffe and Caboolture Libraries.

To use our sound studios, you will need a basic understanding of music production and studio operation. Watch the introduction videos to get started

If you are younger than 18 and would like to use a studio, you must:

  • have someone older than 18 make the booking on your behalf
  • be supervised by someone over 18 for the duration of your session.

You can find a wide range of inspiring books on music production and podcasting at our libraries.

Book a sound studio

Before you can book a studio, you must watch the introduction videos and be a library member.

You will also need to read and agree to this statement:

I hereby acknowledge that as a City of Moreton Bay library member using The Sound Studio equipment, I have read and understand the terms of use and agree to comply at all times with the terms and all stated requirements written or communicated to me at any time by City of Moreton Bay library staff.

As per the terms of use, library staff do not offer sound engineering or technical support.

When making your booking, additional equipment can be selected, including:

  • Rodecaster USB to PC cable
  • Rodecaster SD card 1
  • Rodecaster SD card 2
  • iMac Wireless keyboard and mouse.

Podcasting

  • Available at Redcliffe and Caboolture Library.

Redcliffe Library’s Rodecaster Pro II is undergoing maintenance. Use the Caboolture Library Sound Studio to access podcasting equipment.

Our soundproof room is perfect for recording, podcasting and audio production.

DJing

  • Only available at Caboolture Library.

Mix your own music using the Pioneer DJ XDJ RX3 standalone console. Play from USB drives, DJ software, two laptops at once with external record decks or CD players. You can mix microphones and other sources into your performance. 

This equipment can only be used within the studio. Some noise restrictions may apply.

Induction walkthrough

When you book a studio room, you can request a quick induction walkthrough. The walkthrough will be given when you collect your swipe card, and will include:

  • an explanation of our terms of use
  • a short demonstration on the safe use of the equipment.
