Albany Creek Library displays work by artists, Noel McDonough and Ramon Marrero Junior in January.

Enjoy Noel’s heartwarming pet portraits in the mini exhibition Animals in pastels, while Ram’s vibrant expressions of nature are displayed in Ram's Journey.

About the artists

Noel McDonough has been painting with pastels for 30 years. He enjoys using pastels because of the immediacy of the results. In his own words, he doesn’t have “to wait for things to dry”.

With no formal art training, he started with landscape painting but has recently branched out into portraits. His latest challenge is working on several commissioned pet portraits.

Ram Marrero Jr has been interested in the visual arts since his childhood. Having attended art studies at several American institutes, his lifelong exploration of artistic expression has most recently focused on Sumi-e ink brushwork and painting with both acrylics and watercolours.

Ram is influenced by the explosive and bright works of Australian artist John Russell.
