From 16 to 23 August 2025, we’re celebrating 80 years of Book Week! Book Week is one of Australia’s longest-running and most-loved events for kids, families, and book lovers everywhere!

Since 1945, Book Week has brought schools, libraries, and communities together to celebrate the magic of reading and the people who bring stories to life.

This year’s theme, “Book an Adventure!”, invites everyone to jump into new worlds, discover exciting characters, and let their imaginations run wild.

To make this milestone extra special, we’re hosting some fun, family-friendly events at our libraries:

• Dress-up fun at Storytime and Baby Rhyme Time: Dress as your favourite book character. And yes, parents are welcome to dress up too! Share the joy of your childhood favourites with your little ones.
• Book Week displays: Explore creative displays celebrating beloved Australian stories and illustrators.

• Visit Arana Hills Library for a special Book Week Messy Play on Wednesday 20 August.

• Special Storytime with local Councillors: Join us for special story sessions with some familiar faces from your community.

So grab your costume, pick your favourite story, and come celebrate Book Week with us!
