Learn tips and techniques for your writing as you explore poetic forms in this hands-on workshop presented in conjunction with poet Madeleine Dale and the Queensland Writers Centre.

In this workshop we will introduce you to the fundamentals of poetry. Participants will learn the basics around forms, language, and rhythm through engaging activities and discussions. The workshop encourages creativity and self-expression, guiding attendees in crafting their own poems. No prior experience is necessary—just bring your imagination and a love for words.

This workshop will be hosted online utilising MS Teams. Login and links for the event will be sent out 48 hours before the event commences. Bookings close Thursday 16 January at 10:00 AM - please book before then to avoid disappointment.

About the author

Madeleine Dale grew up on Tamborine Mountain and lives in Brisbane. She holds First-class Honours and a Masters in Creative Writing from the University of Queensland, where she is currently completing a PhD.

Her first chapbook, On Fire with Dangerous Cargo, was published by Queensland Poetry in 2023. Her first full-length collection, Portraits of Drowning, won the 2023 Thomas Shapcott Prize. Her work has appeared in Meanjin, Westerly, Cordite, Australian Poetry Anthology and Best of Australian Poetry 2023, among others.
